NTA Working Groups
The purpose for creating working groups within the NTA was
to facilitate collaboration for ITRP—one of the largest
technical build-out and upgrade projects for a public institution—and
its processes between the CSU’s 23 campuses and the
Chancellor’s Office. At the early phases of the initiative,
working groups were formed to develop standard operating environments
(SOE) for the campuses’ network infrastructure, which
included ITRP network devices, their configurations and images.
When network management servers and applications were added
to the project, the Strategic Engineering working group handled
the technical aspects of network design and equipment management,
while the Network Management Systems (NMS) working group dealt
with the technical oversight of the ITRP NMS project.
At times, temporary working groups have been formed to handle
short-term projects; documentation from completed short-term
projects can be found in the NTA's archive.

Strategic Engineering Group Structure
In 2005, the NTA chose to adopt an ITIL approach to the organization
of its working groups. The restructuring resulted in four
primary working groups, plus a steering group: Development,
Change Management, Problem Management, and Quality Assurance.
